Today, as part of our My Mind’s Eye feature week, we have another great example of a card highlighting their new “My Girl” collection from CHA Winter 2013. This card by designer Annette Allen combines a wealth of pattern with an exuberant message fit for everyday or a variety of occasions.
The patterned paper provides its own pre-printed sentiment block which makes a quick and easy base for the design. Annette added a unique element to the sentiment block – a half pinwheel, constructed with a die from Lil’inker designs. It adds dimension and flair without overwhelming the sentiment visually. The whole pinwheel would have been overwhelming.
Next, on the right side, Annette added a series of hand cut banners. The coordinated paper collection means the papers go together perfectly without fear of clashing. She “grounded” the banners with self-adhesive pearls from the “My Girl” collection.
For a final touch, a twine wrap around the card adds some touchable texture, and a line that goes vertically to offset the horizontal banner and sentiment block lines. And just that quick…the card is complete!
Supplies | My Mind’s Eye (My Girl). Embellishment: My Mind’s Eye Enamel Dots (My Girl). Twine: May Arts (Burlap String). Cardstock: Neenah (white). Adhesive: Scotch 3M (ATG). Die: Lil’inker Designs (mini pen wheel die).
